Global Leaders
The College of Marine & Earth Studies has charted its course to be a world leader in the marine and geosciences and related policy issues. CMES faculty and staff collaborate in specialized centers within the college, in the University of Delaware research community and at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute in Newark. These centers provide a focal point for interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research.
From Underground and Sea to Outer Space
Current areas of focused research efforts include the development of salt-tolerant crops from marsh grasses, critical zone management and study, new satellite-based techniques for monitoring coastal water quality, DNA analyses of hydrothermal vent organisms and other marine life and new integrated approaches for managing coastal ecosystems.
