The University of Delaware awards more than $90 million annually in aid. There is a commitment to making a University of Delaware education affordable through a combination of reasonable tuition for in-state and out-of-state students and availability of scholarships, financial aid programs, and financing plans. For graduate students

Currently, nearly all full-time graduate students at the University of Delaware College of Marine and Earth Studies receive full financial aid via fellowships, teaching assistantships or research assistantships. Most part-time graduate students receive partial aid through scholarships and other sources.
A variety of scholarship/fellowship opportunities are available to qualified students. Also see Policies & Procedures for more details on the scholarship nomination and award process.
Program Fellowships: The marine programs in CMES (Marine Biosciences, Oceanography, Marine Policy and Physical Ocean Science and Engineering) award one fellowship each to a student entering their specific program. The Department of Geological Sciences offers fellowships.
Marian R. Okie Fellowship: Several fellowships from the Okie endowment are available to students enrolled in one of the four marine programs. The fellowships are based on academic and research excellence and demonstrated leadership abilities.
Joanne Currier Daiber Fellowship: Established in honor of the first female scientist hired by the University of Delaware in 1951, this fellowship is granted to an exemplary female graduate student in the Marine Biosciences Program.
Gerald & Frances L. Bow Fellowship: A fellowship from the Bow endowment is available for a student enrolled in one of the four marine programs. It recognizes student excellence.
Elizabeth K. Tunnell Memorial Fellowship: This once-yearly fellowship is awarded to a CMES student that uses scuba diving as a tool in their research, or who is doing hands-on research in the Delaware Bay or at a Delaware Beach.
University Graduate Fellows: University Fellowships are awarded on the basis of nominations by the graduate departments and programs to students with regular, full-time status and high academic standing. Fellowships usually provide full tuition and a stipend. Awards are competitive and are based on academic achievement and professional commitment and potential. Awards are granted for one year.
University Graduate Scholars: Awards are competitive and are based on many criteria including challenging social, economic, educational, cultural or other life circumstances; academic achievements; first-generation graduate student status; and/or need as determined by federal income guidelines (FAFSA).
