Alvin's Porthole

Anchors away for the Alvin!

Watch as the Alvin Group practices handling the fire hose, while giving the fantail a good cleaning. As they move forward, the first person rotates out and the second person controls the hose. The first person then moves to the end of the line. This helps to limit the tiring of the first person who has to work very hard to control the hose. See if you can spot where the rotation occurs!

Sea Flicks

Check out this clip of Alvin getting a good scrubbing at the hands of the Alvin pilots. This was a more thorough cleaning than previous days because this was Alvin's final dive of the series. You'll get a good look at the insides of Alvin because some of the "skin" panels have been removed.

There goes Alvin! After the final dive of Extreme 2004, Alvin was put in the hangar. Tomorrow, the Alvin group will begin some serious maintenance work on the submersible. Stay tuned for more details!
