1402 Alvin is launched.

1409 218 m, Sipper and ARTIE pumps are normal: 15 V, 0.35 amps

1423 Began AIS electrode conditioning and cleaning.

1523 Completed clean sequences (through file 127).

1544 Land at Alvinella Pillar (X,Y,Heading;4696,77657,219)

1546 Begin high-T probing. Positions (from notes page 2):

1) 50–60°C
2) 70–80°C
3) 50–54°C

1548 Fired Sipper #1.

1600 E. chem. scan probe 1 (128–132), probe 2 (133–136) (temp lower btw 28–41).

1606 Position 2. Temps (23–34°C) Sipper fired #2. Digital stills and 3-chip video taken E. chem. scan probes 1 & 2 (137–147).

1617 Position 1. Temps (30–50°C) Digital stills E. chem. scan probes 3 & 4 (148–159)

1628 ASU Foreplay removed and isolated in front chamber of biobox. Small pieces of structure fell off and were collected. Good video of Tony working on the stbd pan and tilt.

1633 Position 1. Temps (30–48°C). Digital still and video taken. Sipper fired #3. E. chem. scan probe 1 (160–165).

1638 Continuing E. chem. work in scar area of Foreplay. Temps (39–50°C) E. chem. Scan probe 2 & 3 (167, 172–186) (Scans 168–71 are no good). Good 3-chip of scar at 1643. Stills. Good worm footage on stbd.

1653 High-T work in position 1. Temps (100–313°C) Good 3-chip, 1656

1656 ASU frying pan is deployed to scar. 3-chip taken.

1758 Position 6. Temps (55–67°C). Sipper fired #9. E. chem. probes 1&2 (295 junk) (296–307).

1810 E. chem. probe cleaning. (manips with probe moved to cold water).

1815 Position 7. Temps (30–36°C). Sipper fired #10. Video. E. chem. probes 1 & 2 (325–332). Great port video of Sipper in hole.

1823 Position 8. Temps (30–36°C). Sipper fired #11. Video. E. chem. probes 1 & 2 (333–342).

1831 Position 9. Temps (53–68°C). Sipper fired #12 (but did not go all the way up). E. chem. probes 1 & 2 (343–351).

1834 E. chem. And sipping done!!!! 1835: Begin attempts at worm collection in high-frequency sampling area.

1850 Worms from around position 2 collected and secured in ARTIE chamber 1. RNA Later successfully pumped into ARTIE.

1852 Begin second Alvinella collection. Collection of a total of 12 worms completed thereafter. Eight deposited in chamber 2 and pumped full of RNA Later. Please consult video for exact sample collection sites.

1915 Targets 18 & 19 dropped LBL (4692,77643).

1922 Electrodes cleaned.

1924 Tapes changed.

1932 Arrive TY/Io for plume work (X,Y,heading; 4672,77620,067).

2005 Deployed Crab Trap (X,Y,heading; 4683,77643,153).

2006 The great mangled Riftia preservation at same spot as crab trap (4688,77642). Riftia expertly captured, sectioned, and stuffed into ARTIE chamber 3.

2021 (X,Y,heading; 4693,77650,065) Collected basalt ~1 meter from Riftia patches.

2030 Low on power — head off-axis to drop weights and ascend.
