The following photos were sent by Laura Zyglocke, a teacher at Midlothian Middle School in Midlothian, Virginia. It looks like we may have some new Alvin pilots from Virginia in the future. We are so glad to have you aboard with us, Midlothian Middle School!

Laura Zygloke writes:

The attached photos are of my students, "The Alvin Scientists," inside our Alvin simulation. Even though it only consists of a 6-foot circle on the floor, a hula hoop hanging from the ceiling, and boxes that are supposed to be computer equipment and cameras, the kids are having a great time feeling what it is like inside the real Alvin. Every day, three new students spend the class period as the "Alvin Scientists." They even complain when it's not their day. My students are having a great time with the entire Extreme 2002 project! Thanks for the information and ideas!!

The following photos were sent by Sonia Haley, a teacher at Jefferson-Houston School for the Arts and Academics in Alexandria, Virginia. Great job, Jefferson-Houston — what a neat way to learn about the different ocean zones!

Sonia Haley writes:

The young scientists at Jefferson-Houston School for Arts and Academics are painting their own DEEP SEA. They are at the beginning stages of painting a collage of the life and zones of the ocean. The art teacher at our school, Ms. Laura Wollman, was on hand to give "expert" art integration instruction... It was character dress-up day today so please excuse the attire.
