Jen Costanza, Shipboard Education Coordinator Latitude: 9°N Longitude: 104°W Wow, November, this is crazy! It certainly does not feel like we've been on this cruise long enough to be in November. And the weather here does not come close to what I'm used to for November!!! Since the Halloween festivities, things were a little quiet yesterday. Lots of folks slept late since there weren't any samples to work on, and they were fatigued from being up late the night before. The most entertaining part of the day (there should be pictures of it for you to see maybe under November 1, 2002) was when Dr. Kevin Fielman came off of his first Alvin dive. While most of the new divers have timidly accepted the 15 gallons of ice water, Kevin stepped right up and made quite a show of it. He danced down the stairs, did a little dance on the deck, and then ran up to the guys with water and screamed, "Bring it on!" Then he narrated the water dumping, so to speak, yelling, "And one over the top, YEAH! And three!" Then he scooted across the deck to the pool, climbed up, sat on the edge and waved, and then fell over backwards into the pool. We got a great shot of just his feet sticking up in the air as he fell in. Maybe I will have to make a little video of his "show." I had another stint in the galley today, always entertaining. Mixing me and any activity related to cooking is not a smart thing to do. Linda had me just cutting up some veggies and taking out the trash. Then I headed to our daily science meeting in the library where we all bring each other up to date on the lab work, yesterday's dive, etc. Just a bunch of work to get done today. I am looking forward to my Engine Room tour at 7 with Chief Engineer Kevin Fisk. I should get some pretty sweet pictures out of that! That's all for now folks. Thanks for checking in! |
