Job on the ship: The electrician for the Alvin Group. How long have been on the Atlantis? All together, about 8 months. However, I was recalled to active duty with the Navy after September 11. I was with the Navy for a year serving as force protection for Pt. Loma submarine base as well as port operations security in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Where are you from? I was born in Taiwan. (I like to say I was made in Taiwan.) My dad was in the Air Force, so in reality, I'm from no real place. We traveled around a lot. Right now, I hang my hat in Phoenix, Arizona. What's the most unusual thing you've seen on cruise? A waterspout — it's an ocean-going tornado and is awesome to see. Strangest thing you've ever eaten? A beetle (it was but accident). I was riding my motorcycle in Hawaii and was yawning when the beetle flew in. It tastes like a grasshopper. What's the scariest thing that's ever happened to you? I went to war during Desert Storm, and that was not nice. If you didn't have this job, what would be your next job of choice? Photojournalist for National Geographic What's the hardest thing to endure? Watching a close friend die of a brain tumor. It was hard to watch. What's the coolest place you've ever been? At the bottom edge of a reef while I was a kid in the Philippines. That was my first open-water dive. I distinctly remember watching the other people swim — it was so clear that it looked like they were in air. |
