Bekki Helton

What is your name? Jen Costanza

What is your job on the ship? To tell everyone on land what is going on out here at sea.

How long have you worked on Atlantis? 4.5 days

Where are you from? Originally — Baltimore, Maryland. Now — Lewes, Delaware

What is the most unusual thing you have seen on a cruise? I’ll let you know after this cruise is over. Nothing yet.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten? Sea urchin. It was not a pleasant experience, and I will not do it again.

What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you? I don’t really get scared too often. I might have to say the flight out here from BWI to Houston. I don’t mean to make it sound so awful since I already talked about it, but for someone who doesn’t like to fly anyway, it was pretty scary.

If you didn’t have this job, what would be your next job of choice? Some kind of outdoor expedition leader — like biking, hiking, or kayaking trips, or a producer — I’m good at that organizing and coordinating type of thing.

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to endure? A really long mountain bike ride in Durango, Colorado, that I didn’t think I could complete, but I did and I have never been more proud of myself. That and four years of being on the crew team in high school. It’s a beautiful but brutal sport.

Where’s the coolest place you have ever been? Why? Can I give a list — in a waterfall in the rainforest in Puerto Rico, on a mountain in Colorado, in a teeny tiny plane over the Keys during the sunrise, and standing on top of Alvin this morning. Because they were all very beautiful, humbling experiences. Also, standing out on the bow last night. It was incredible!
