The eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean has been monitored by autonomous hydrophones (instruments that detect sound underwater) since May 1996 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. Earthquakes frequently occur in this region. In fact, recent earthquake activity in 1999–2000 is depicted on the map below in red. Can you locate our Extreme 2002 dive location on this map?
