General
University rules for thesis and dissertations are clearly stated in the University's Thesis Manual, which can be found on the Web at the following address:

Specific
Complete the Application for Advanced Degree form. This form must be signed by the Associate Dean before you submit it to the Office of Graduate Studies.

- Send an announcement of your defense (for posting) and a copy of the title page, table of contents, and abstract to:
Dean's Office, Newark (Ms. Magers) and to
Associate Dean's Office, Lewes (CMES-academics)
Deadline: at least two weeks before defense - Reserve Conference Room. Whether ITV is being used or not, reserve both Cannon AND Robinson Hall (contact either Peggy Conlon, 645-4279 or Jaqueline Bijansky, 831-2733).
- For the Master's degree, download the thesis defense sign-off form. For the Ph.D., download the dissertation defense sign-off form.Be sure to get the appropriate signatures at defense. Send/carry signed forms to CMES-academics in the Associate Dean's Office (Lewes).
- Make sure your committee members and advisor sign the appropriate pages in your thesis/dissertation. Signature page of the thesis/dissertation should be signed by your Advisor, Nancy M. Targett, Ph.D. and Dean of the College of Marine and Earth Studies and Carolyn A. Thoroughgood, Ph.D., Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies. (NOTE:Please send a copy of your signature page to CMES-academics for approval before you make an appointment with Dean Targett.)

- Take the final thesis/dissertation to Interim Dean Targett (by appointment) for signature. Appointment can be made by contacting Sandy Magers, 831-2841.
- Submit the final thesis/dissertation to the Office of Graduate Studies to meet the appropriate deadline for degree.
